"We recognise the need to electrify heavy-duty vehicles in order to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to cleaner air, but there remain doubts about charging capacities. We can already see that Grid Operators in many Member States are under extreme pressure to fulfil the demand for additional grid capacity and charging infrastructure. This regulation will exacerbate existing problems.
"My Group would have preferred that the regulation takes the role of CO2-neutral fuels, such as biofuels and synthetic fuels, seriously, in order to maintain technological neutrality and not further exacerbate already existing grid problems."
