Those damned climate protestors walking slowly, causing havoc and delays in Rhodes this afternoon.
Oh, wait- sorry it’s the climate causing the havoc.
Mass holiday evacuations have now begun. Perhaps we should build more wind farms or something.

Low emissions are about health (=cost of NHS, people out of work).
Carbon emissions are about climate (= a future in which the planet will support life).
Low emission vehicles still emit carbon (just not much from the tailpipe).
To cut carbon emissions we need public transport.

Re @grantshapps What you mean is that you didn't do anything to reduce our dependence on oil and gas, and now you've discovered that we're still not free of it and you're still not acting fast enough. So you'll carry on destroying life and future prosperity, because you have no other solution.

Just imagine how many more people would vote Labour if they had PR in the manifesto. Most people who want something else would probably do so.

Best for Britain: This weekend, The National Policy Forum will set out Labour’s policy agenda for the coming 6 years. It’s disappointing to see that proportional representation isn’t in the drafts. Labour leadership ought to remember that 83% of members support PR. bit.ly/3K2NDQM

Re @thepurplebins @RachelFeather10 @CarolineLucas It doesn't work for them. Only very occasionally does Labour manage to get an outright majority. But they'd be permanently in government if we had PR and the Conservatives would probably never be in government. Because we have a majority for progressive parties.

Re @RachelFeather10 @Wrexhamforeu @CarolineLucas @Shieldmaid8 Labour should obviously be the only party standing in the seats it wants to win. It's incapable of winning otherwise, so it needs a lot of help.
Other parties are really not playing fair, competing as if it was a democracy. 😉

Re @sea_wandereruk Because what is supposed to be the opposition here is imitating the government in everything. Most recently thinking it might have won Uxbridge by being even less committed than it was to improving emissions control for public health. Which they are confusing with climate action.

Interesting how Labour's ratings have fallen badly. I mean, we knew the nasty party had become so nasty that people started to notice. But Labour is not giving people the alternative they want.

Re @DougRouxel People who currently wish they could vote for the party they really like, and get a satisfactory result, crave PR. Those people would likely vote Labour to get it.

Interesting juxtaposition of news items this morning.
1. UK government (and opposition) cutting back on climate protection ambitions.
2. Climate scientists alarmed that worst case scenario is unfolding right now.
3. Refugees drown.
We are in the hands of criminals and murderers.

Re @lsdinksa @greenbenali On the contrary, polluter-funded policies kill the poor & put children in hospital; inflate the cost of living, with fuel prices at the mercy of profiteers; increase the cost of the NHS; reduce access to low cost transport for travel to work. Greens make a good life affordable.

The politicians we need are not those who ignore the facts - air pollution kills, the planet is burning - to get elected. The politicians we need are the ones who can persuade us to live with the facts - and act accordingly.

Re @LyndseyStonebri Polling shows the majority of Brits want Green Party policies. So if people can get beyond classic British cynicism around anything changing in politics & get out and CAMPAIGN for @TheGreenParty in huge numbers, tens of thousands, 50k, the result would be a political earthquake.
