Great news that the *bill of rights" is scrapped, but do read @CarolineLucas's absolutely devastating list of things that were wrong with this appalling legislation. Conservatives are truly dangerous in the driving seat. We must get them out.

Caroline Lucas: Finally! Breathing a big sigh of relief as we hear Raab's destructive has been scrapped. My amendment has been on Commons order paper every single day for months, urging them to scrap this draconian anti-democratic legislation - glad Ministers eventually took notice t.co/9EIpR1pOCJ

The news this morning is a litany of failure and destruction on the part of the UK government. In response to every piece each incriminating report, the government says "We have spent record millions on addressing this". That too is criminal. Incompetence and corruption together.

Re @stiptop1 @CarolineLucas Keeping our proper human rights and the protection of the European Court of Human Rights, which they wanted to take away. It wasn't a bill of rights. It was a bill of "take away your rights".

Everything the govt is planning is destined to make our progress worse, not better.
And besides, our climate targets were unrealistically slow, because our job is to take out of the atmosphere a heritage of 200 years of industrial emissions.

Still world-leading in making things worse for everyone in the UK and the world. Meanwhile in the USA, an "inflation reduction" programme is all about moving to a sustainable low carbon future and workers skilled for the jobs of the future. In 🇬🇧 we go back to the 19th century.

Re @stiptop1 @CarolineLucas True that, which is why it's so important this was dropped. And we have to push for getting Tories out now. But we need Green in govt, that's certainly true. Labour is playing to the same piper's tunes as Tories.
Get Murdoch out of our media!

The things that are "on track" are either greenwash or an accidental bi-product of extreme poverty, an energy price crisis and the failing economy after Brexit. 🙄

Re @rscrase Or just bring in a law that the assets are repatriated if they ditch untreated sewage in the rivers or fail to supply piped drinking water to the customers? That'll plunge their shares anyway, but no need to buy them. Fines don't work because they pass them to customers.
