In a modern economy, effective free health care is not a luxury. It's a necessity, without which nothing can function. The aging demographic is not a reason for withdrawing free universal health care. It's a reason for enhancing it. Because without it no one can work.

RT @greenmattbfd: 🫂 The public want the government to negotiate.
👊 Unions want want the government to negotiate.
🚅 Rail Companies want the government to negotiate.

😠 The only ones that don't want to negotiate are the government.

❌ They need to grow up.

RT @EmilyLincOBrien: Just listening the Labour's Rachel Reeves on @BBCr4today weirdly parroting Trussonomics as the answer to current crises. She even said 'Grow the pie' 🤣

RT @carla_denyer: could have used this speech to lay out an exciting vision of the future, where a proactive government invests in a to create a fairer, greener country.

If that's what you're after, @TheGreenParty is right here 😉💚 join.greenparty.org.uk

The answer to a problem with essential workers going on strike is never going to be inventing legislation to prevent it. First you need to ensure a decent standard of living and fair rewards for their services. Otherwise they will just leave their jobs. (Tories have no clue).

@TerryC800 @SamLowryEsq Same as what happens to the ones that are turned down now. Except that if you do it on board ship they never need to disembark. Can be taken back on the return journey.

@DeborahDuffin @DanielaNadj @RishiSunak I hadn't thought of the current system of fees as preventing those non-academic folk from achieving. But possibly it does, because of the pressure for everyone to go to university, run up a debt and waste their time skipping lectures in a subject they don't care about.

RT @DrDavidVernon: I've nothing against maths (well, I've lots against maths, but that's another story), but feel if we made music and literature compulsory until the age of 18, we would end up a kinder, smarter nation because of it...

Sunak hasn't the foggiest about immigration. Making it illegal to come by boat won't stop immigration. It'll generate a huge legal backlog trying to prosecute people who turn out to have the right to come anyway.
Plus a new and even uglier mode of arrival will also spring up.

@DeborahDuffin @DanielaNadj @RishiSunak I didn't say everyone should go to university or arts colleges! Just that everyone who has those talents and inclinations should be able to do so and get to the peak of their potential with no barriers of cost.

Did he tell us about the expectation of disastrous and unaffordable effects of Brexit? Or were we just supposed to listen to "project fear" and understand that it was the more reliable source of information?
RT @archer_rs: So now Michael Gove is saying people expected too much from Brexit and that the British population should have been "more realistic" in what they thought would be the results.

Three years from now he'll be claiming he never supported Brexit.

@DeborahDuffin @DanielaNadj @RishiSunak Another way is to educate the young people, by reducing class sizes, recruiting and retaining top quality teachers and providing free university education and arts education to ensure everyone reaches their full potential in every kind of talent (not just maths).

@DeborahDuffin @DanielaNadj @RishiSunak What's actually needed is to create workers to fill jobs. One way of doing that is to treat the sick, provide free and timely medical treatment, give people a healthy diet and avoid mental health problems by making life worry free and well provisioned with accessible resources.

@minogue732 @PetrocTrelawny @BBCRadio3 Yes same in my family but that's correct. The 6th (Epiphany) begins at sunset on the 5th (so about 4pm today 😂) but it goes on through tomorrow till sunset. You're right about which day it is, but the night included is the one before. So twelfth night partying's OK this evening.

But for sure he'll definitely use this promise as a reason to insist on wage freezes (which is completely the wrong approach and will lead to a deeper recession). Current inflation is nothing to do with wage rises but needs to be addressed with wage rises.
