@mansleyus @SwannyAl @CarolineLucas @StopSizewellC The graph shows materials by mass. You know how big a nuclear power station is? And who said anything about batteries? There are many many massively better and more capacious storage systems than batteries, at a fraction of the cost or carbon of a new nuclear power station.

@SwannyAl @CarolineLucas @StopSizewellC Not compared to using renewables and reducing demand (which absolutely eliminates the CO2). Funnily enough, eliminating it is what is required, not gas, not coal and not nuclear, none of which are compatible with what needs to be done, however much you try on the sophistry.

@CarolineLucas @StopSizewellC What's also bonkers is that construction increases our fuel usage and the climate crisis, at the very time when we need to be urgently cutting it. So it makes reaching our 2035 target less possible not more possible.

RT @CarolineLucas: Bone-headed & senseless decision. Govt says is vital to meet 2035 electricity decarbonisation target, but *its own impact statement* found we won't get supply for at least another 13-17 years - do the maths! Nuclear is hugely costly & simply can't help meet 2035 target

@gillyvla @guardian They pretend it's an unexpected "soaring" of people reporting no religion, but once you've got parents with no religion raising children with no religion, and you kill off the older people (who were brought up as believers) in a covid pandemic, what do you expect?

This is wonderful to behold, but our country is so messed up by plastic and rubbish and filth. This river is a metaphor for the rubbish we have clogging the corridors of power in the UK. We need to clear it all out and let clear water flow.
RT @riverroding: Yesterday, some of the best of humanity came together on the Aldersbrook in Ilford to uncover a river so choked in plastic & rubbish it had ceased to flow. With a day of difficult & tiring work, they managed to…

BBC says Musk is "accusing Apple of ceasing to advertise on Twitter". Surely "accusing" can only be used where the action you're accused of is in some sense wrong or disallowed? Last time I looked (checks notes) advertising on Twitter was (a) optional and (b) probably shameful.

@martin_farley Add to that the fact that they've counted their bogus covid contracts for useless PPE and the covid track and trace system which was money for Dido and her consultants, not for patients, and we see that they've taken most of the money out of the NHS into private off-shore banks.

RT @docrussjackson: In 1992 the TORIES introduced , an unnecessary & expensive method of borrowing money for new hospitals designed to deliver attractive, risk-free returns for private investors, drain money out of the , lock the taxpayer into long-term debt & justify hospital closures.

RT @docrussjackson: "Historically, Beveridge-type systems like the ‘old’ (pre-1991) have been relatively inexpensive to manage & administer... a single payer, in conjunction with simple resource allocation mechanisms, has substantially limited the number of transactions needed"

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

RT @danielgoyal: Check this,… the cost of the dodgy PPE contracts were actually added to the NHS budget…

… so it will look like the govt are investing in the NHS when they are actually “laundering” public money through the NHS!

Then they say “record NHS funding”.

They think we’re idiots!

📉Nurses’ real pay is down by £4,300

📉Paramedics’ real pay is down by £5,600

📉Teachers' real pay is down by 20%

📈 MPs' pay up by 28%

It's not a question of affordability, it's a question of priorities.

@ShootingParrots @MooseAllain Yes, I think a lot of printed advent calendars have the doors laid out in identical ways even if the picture and numbering is different. Then they stick a sheet of the inner pictures on the back and they line up with the doors. Pictures can differ but 24 door layout is fixed.
