@BrexitIsTwaddle @JaxRyan They should've invested in improving the power grid, renewable energy, upskilling for a future without fossil fuels, converting heating & cooking to electricity, and insulation. What did they do? Offshored the wealth to tax havens and sold assets to foreign companies.

@NedNedNed94 @cmashing @DanielaNadj That damage started in the industrial revolution and it's due to exploitation, which is what they want to go back to now. Excessive consumption isn't necessary for prosperity. In fact it's incompatible with it. To prevent it you need regulations, like we had in the EU 🇪🇺 .

@NedNedNed94 @DanielaNadj Despite losing an empire, the standard of living rose through the 20th century. Middle class citizens could earn a comfortable living without going to the colonies. Working class people had housing and education to levels they'd never had before and infant mortality fell.
