RT @johnmcdonnellMP: Today, Monday, is the last day for @ucu members to vote in the union ballot to secure the future of higher education in our country. This is a momentous opportunity for @ucu members to make it clear that they will no longer tolerate the undermining of their profession.

RT @JimwalkThewalk: One of these incredibly wealthy people is saying that poor people have to come up with £40 billion to save the economy. The other incredibly wealthy person ripped off the UK for £37 billion during Covid.

Now I wonder which group has gone for a coup? Head scratching moment. What would you say?
RT @davidyelland: The ‘Remainer, ‘expert’-driven establishment’ has apparently organised a ‘very British coup’ against Truss according to Tim Stanley. In the words of Gillian Tett: Bollocks! I prefer the ⁦@JeremyWarnerUK⁩ wing of @Telegraph⁩.

Will abolish the crazy policy of paying fossil fuel companies out of public funds with no limit on the budget for it? Has he got any other solution to the cost of energy in a country suffering from having Tories for 12 years, failing to invest in insulation and the grid?

RT @natalieben:

Deeply disturbing event which must have serious consequences.

Those in the consulate responsible must not be allowed to remain in the UK and China must apologise

@TalktoBeverley @TiggerTherese @a6ruled_WFH I remember when it was only for my little brother, and I couldn't understand why there wasn't still some for me. Me and my older brother were allowed to have a little every now and then.

@TNotional Yes those were less good, but the best council housing was in the 1920s to 1950s. Look at these...

@BrexitIsTwaddle @JaxRyan They should've invested in improving the power grid, renewable energy, upskilling for a future without fossil fuels, converting heating & cooking to electricity, and insulation. What did they do? Offshored the wealth to tax havens and sold assets to foreign companies.

@NedNedNed94 @cmashing @DanielaNadj That damage started in the industrial revolution and it's due to exploitation, which is what they want to go back to now. Excessive consumption isn't necessary for prosperity. In fact it's incompatible with it. To prevent it you need regulations, like we had in the EU 🇪🇺 .

@NedNedNed94 @DanielaNadj Despite losing an empire, the standard of living rose through the 20th century. Middle class citizens could earn a comfortable living without going to the colonies. Working class people had housing and education to levels they'd never had before and infant mortality fell.

@TiggerTherese @a6ruled_WFH There was free orange juice for under 5s up to at least 1960. Maybe not in the 60s? It was some kind of concentrated syrup. Very delicious.

@TiggerTherese @a6ruled_WFH Sometimes it was frozen. I can remember trying to get paper straws into frozen milk.

RT @johnmcdonnellMP: Mini budget cost £45 billion. Reversing corporation tax decision saves £18 billion. Add on the increased cost of borrowing so far & we are now facing a hyper wave of austerity cuts.

@LizARees The end of rickets was an achievement, even if we didn't like the milk much. Going back to unheated houses and rickets is really not a good feel.
