@Amos_H Sold off to private ownership under Thatcher and now largely owned by private landlords and let to students for multi occupation. Sold below market value to the former council tenants and then for a huge profit. Stolen from public ownership by the tories in other words.

@Amos_H If you don't count the toxic air that we now have in London from traffic as smog. Smokeless zones arrived when we were able to move off coal, but were quickly replaced by the right to drive diesel vehicles past the houses and blacken them with particulates again.

@pigreen1 @as_penarth Yes exactly. We thought improvements were there to stay. How could anyone imagine that it was temporary and people would want to trash it all? For sure, moving from coal to natural gas was not a permanent solution to pollution, but the idea of cleaning up was there. Momentarily.
