RT @Charles83230639: Do you support a General Strike in the UK? - 🇬🇧

@SeanAWallis They want to get away with saying "average incomes have risen to match inflation". We aren't going to put up with that. Workers' incomes at every level, but most of all at the bottom, need to rise to match or exceed inflation. Averages are used to deceive the media.

RT @LizTruss_MP: Please understand, I'm prepared to make "difficult decisions" like lifting the cap on bankers' bonuses because this is the most effective way to make rich people richer

Someone I must surely know? Own up...
RT @PeterAr18228396: @PippaCrerar Who taught Liz Truss economics at Oxford?

Cutting taxes for the wealthy but leaving the poorest with nothing is very beneficial apparently. Who told her that, you might ask?
Does she think they will raise the wages of their peasants and servants? What's she going to do to make that happen?
RT @PippaCrerar: Truss doubles down, telling Sky: “I don’t accept this argument that cutting taxes is somehow unfair. People on higher incomes generally pay more tax so when you redu…

@LizWebsterLD @KwasiKwarteng It looks to me that he was having an amusing conversation with Boris Johnson (immediately to the right of Carrie, on her left).

@rachelbbridge @sophieplowden @Patrici89225734 But it wasn't about hoarding wealth or fleecing the folk. It was about clinging to worldly power and refusing to give it up. People have taken it as a dig at Johnson. I thought more of Trump. But it was way off point and inappropriate at the funeral of one who never stepped down.

These measures don't increase growth. They increase inequality by draining money from the poor to the rich. And growth is not a solution. It's part of the problem.
RT @HugoGye: @RichardVaughan1 Truss also acknowledges backlash to some of her policies eg re bonus cap, telling reporters: "Not every measure will be popular. And there are always vested interests – people who oppose measures that increase economic growth." https://i…

RT @catherinerowett: @sophieplowden @Patrici89225734 It's a pretty myth but it's not true. Any classicist or historian could give you plenty of nasty dictators and emperors who are a byword for evil and will never be forgotten.

@NorwichCycling Gosh about time! Will it really be any good for cyclists? Or is it yet another scheme designed to privilege cars and keep cyclists out of their way?

@glimmerung @NeilMaybin I think there are still a few who could be well motivated but they seem to have lost the will or the power to stand up and see the criminals off. So I guess they are facilitating the criminal gang. None of them seem to have any principles when push comes to shove.

RT @FrPhilipMurray: Another reflection from today: @PScotlandCSG should tour every Church of England theological college to tutor ordinands on the public proclamation of Scripture. Her reading was astonishingly good.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@FrPsiChi @FrPhilipMurray @PScotlandCSG She was reading for a building with a reverberation of at least 30 seconds if not a minute. Anyone who has been taught to read properly in such a building knows that you do it like that. If you weren't there you won't have got the sense of the building and its echo.

@FrPhilipMurray @PScotlandCSG Absolutely spot on. The Times seems to have completely mistaken who was good at reading and who wasn't.
