RT @PeterStefanovi2: Two million adults in the UK can’t afford to eat everyday. Liz Truss’ much trumpeted plan to reverse the hike in National insurance will save households on lowest incomes about 76p a month - that’s a tin of baked beans!

Please tell me the penny has finally dropped

@johnmilbank3 @drphilhammond @Rob_Merrick There will surely be queues for those who want queues?

RT @lukemcgee: Interesting nugget from @amanpour's interview with the Queen's former director of communication on the speculation about the Queen's views on Brexit.

@sophieplowden @Patrici89225734 It's a pretty myth but it's not true. Any classicist or historian could give you plenty of nasty dictators and emperors who are a byword for evil and will never be forgotten.

@19Averil Quentin Letts seems ignorant. The prime minister didn't read well but was an embarrassment whereas the Baroness Scotland of Asthall KC read impeccably. And I think the Bishop of London did make a mistake, if I remember rightly. What fell short of bcp? We said those who trespass?

RT @RichardJMurphy: But there is no evidence that freeports actually create new jobs or growth. That’s why the Tories scrapped a previous experiment with them in 2012. They simply did not work for the economy as a whole.

RT @ZackPolanski: ✖️ If the Government think fracking is the answer, they're asking the wrong questions.

@TheGreenParty do have answers:

🏢 Insulate homes.

☀️ Invest in renewables.

✅ Actual windfall tax on fossil fuels.

This is what we heard in Norwich this morning. Mesmerising and solemn.
RT @ArchdeaconLuke: The bells @StPaulsLondon ringing muffled with the open tenor tolling behind in mourning for the sovereign. A strangely mesmerising sound not heard for 70 years.

@EsmeLKPartridge @RyanHaecker I don't think Welby is right that we forget. We remember the villains and power hungry dictators too (but it's not a memory to treasure). I thought at the time that it was a lie and not a very useful one.

Today I pray that each of us in the UK will discover and hear our own calling—to find new strength to devote our life to achieving something noble, something selfless and honourable, for our country and our planet, and to continue to do so through good times and bad.

@DAaronovitch @MatthewStadlen @JuliaHB1 The fact that so many people think this tweet "just states facts" speaks volumes about the racism and prejudice that they've subconsciously absorbed from these pseudo journalists and the media.

Look what happens after 2016. And then consider what if we saw it continue into 2020 and 2021 and 2022. Did some country shoot itself in the foot in 2016, paid for by Russian money?
RT @MarieAnnUK: The UK, one of the greatest trading nations in the World... Until about 2016.

RT @pierloucaron: Emmanuel Macron est arrivé à où il se balade incognito. Il remonte la file d’attente et déclare « partager la peine des Britanniques »

RT @milena_ivanova_: Our profession needs to prepare to face the fact that behind many of its 'great men' are difficult truths that need to finally be confronted. By making some men into heroes, the culture has allowed them to behave in horrendous ways and get away with it.

@PaulbernalUK @NadineDorries She may be trying to avoid saying anything embarrassing during this solemn period.

@jdportes @rcolvile I suggest that you should question that "growth matters" mantra. What matters is equality of wealth at a moderate level. That might once have been achieved (partially) by growth but it was never the growth that improved things. It was the rise in prosperity for the less well off.
