@JohnGower1 @TheGreenParty How perverse can you get? The private companies fail due to shoddy practices, inadequate capitalisation, bonuses, dividend distribution. A publicly owned company can be properly financed from the public purse to buy and sell at advantageous prices from publicly owned renewables.

@JohnGower1 @360Chambers @TheGreenParty You haven't checked what our plan is, have you? You're throwing out rudeness because you've never bothered to consider the policies of the UK's favourite political party, which would be the preference of a majority if they didn't think that they had to opt for second best.

RT @JonWatt57321819: @catherinerowett @Stueriley1946 No… The tories stole them.

People forget we the taxpayers owned these utilities, you, your mother, father, grandparents all contributed towards them

Thatcher and her stooges stole them…

RT @doodleslave: @catherinerowett The argument for privatisation was that it would improve efficiency, increase competition and reduce prices. There is no evidence that this has happened. Time to scrap the Tory economic models.

UK housing problems mean we have absurdly long commutes. Long commutes destroy the environment, but they also lead to misery and low productivity. If you reduce them, we get more time for fitness, leisure, family. Let's put this right for everyone, not just those who can wfh.

@Redbil5 The NHS was the best and cheapest health care system until the privatisation of large parts of its infrastructure and provision (including PFI hospitals). That leeches public money to private profit. And Brexit and long covid have resulted in vast staff shortages.

@Dewix888 @forumeditor @SaulStaniforth @Z_Beeb @carla_denyer Labour voted with the Conservatives for a General Election. The rest did not. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-502

@JohnGower1 No one is suggesting you just take them over. You can buy them out, and that would cost a bit for the successful ones; but that's not necessary if they are failing and the customers need to be reassigned. And it's not necessary for rail franchises etc.

@JohnGower1 It's not illegal to set up a national company. It's not obligatory to bail out a foreign company. Many of the companies running our utilities are the national companies of other states. If they fail to meet regulatory standards they can be disqualified from continuing.

@Dewix888 @forumeditor @SaulStaniforth @Z_Beeb @carla_denyer Labour caused the General Election. Not the Greens.

@forumeditor @Dewix888 @SaulStaniforth @Z_Beeb @carla_denyer Yes but not in the 2019 General Election. Which is the one DM is talking about.

@JohnGower1 As for the advantages, if you don't pay out to shareholders, but invest profits into green initiatives that get us off fossil fuels, and make us self-sufficient in renewables, and insulate houses—this is all part of the carefully worked out strategy @TheGreenParty has presented.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@JohnGower1 There isn't any real problem about finding the cost of renationalising. With the energy companies, as they go bust, we can just provide an alternative national industry to move the customers to. Similarly with the rail companies too, and poor performing sewage companies.

@Dewix888 @forumeditor @SaulStaniforth @Z_Beeb @carla_denyer Greens have had costed green new deal for longer than Labour, and also realised that Brexit would have devastating consequences for workers and environment and needed to be delayed and rethought.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@Dewix888 @forumeditor @SaulStaniforth @Z_Beeb @carla_denyer Greens are pro Europe and Labour was not. The election was fought over Brexit. Labour was on the wrong side, and are partly to blame for where we now are, with an appalling Brexit no one wanted. We couldn't have supported that. Did you forget? Utter betrayal of the working class.

@CrednesCodPeace @forumeditor @SaulStaniforth @Z_Beeb @carla_denyer Exactly. Nothing has changed in our policy. Look at the 2015 political compass: politicalcompass.org/uk2015
