RT by @bueti: Many people are sharing this piece from the🇩🇪 tabloid @Bild about a secret 🇩🇪-🇺🇸 plot to undersupport #Ukraine & force negotiations.

Many urge caution but others also rightly point to Bild’s sometimes excellent reporting on 🇺🇦.

I have no idea if there is a ‘plot’ - but look at the evidence of what #Germany has supplied and when as @EHunterChristie has pointed out.

Look at the fact that Olaf Scholz has never said that he wants Ukraine to win and why - as I write together with @JulianStoeckle in May 23

Nothing has changed in Scholz’ approach since then.
Scholz is mainly afraid of the effect of a Ukrainian victory in a war that @andrewmichta has rightly called ‘system transforming’

- it would usher in a change toward
Systemic competition that Scholz does not want & would be Ill equipped to deal with. He instead clings to the world of yesterday where Germany ducked its geopolitical responsibilities and did financially well out of it (at least some parts of Germany did)

- it also misreads how ideologically aligned blocs were a key aspect of Cold War conflict management

- and the whole approach is based on a massive miscalculation of Germany’s interest and sells Germany & its Allies as well as Ukraine down the river.

There are plenty of German politicians who understand this as do a lot of German people but those in charge in the chancellery don’t - which is one reason we convened the event yesterday with Ukraine’s Deputy PM - to emphasise why only victory will do.
