Thousands of women died in communist Romania following an #abortion ban in 1967. Thousands of unwanted kids were born & thrown in orphanages. For us in @RenewEurope this must NEVER repeat. That's why the right to abortion MUST be included in the EU Charter of #FundamentalRights.

Took part in the #ECRD & discussed how we can tackle #RareDiseases affecting more than 30 million patients in Europe.
We need an EU Action Plan for rare diseases as a pillar of the EU #HealthUnion, which can be built through EU shared competences in health.

👉 Strengthened online #transparency: users will be able to see who's behind web pages they use & whether they are legitimate + I am proposing a dispute resolution mechanism at EU level, where web browsers, IT experts, users & others can report website ownership issues
👉 An app that works in all EU countries & allows users to add documents issued in any EU state & is available & accessible to everyone, including minors, elderly or people with disabilities
👉 An electronic signature that can be received and is simple & user-friendly to use
👉 A user-friendly app which allows full #control of users over their #data
👉 Users should be able not just to share but also revoke access to their data directly from the app, without any barriers
👉 An app that allows users to log into certain services using #pseudonyms
Today I tabled 75 amendments to the European Digital Identity Framework (#eID) file, for which I am the @RenewEurope shadow rapporteur.
I am proposing several changes that will make it safer and easier for EU citizens to access public & private services, along these lines ⬇️
The @EUProsecutor means business from day one. Glad to see how much it accomplished in just one year of work. What it needs is more resources and support to be able to detect even more #frauds with EU taxpayers' money.

What a historical moment for the EU! European Council just granted EU #CandidateStatus to #Moldova and #Ukraine! It’s a well deserved decision and a proof of unity & courage in such troubled times. Funny how Russia wanted to divide Europe and it got the complete opposite.🇲🇩🇺🇦🇪🇺✌️
The @europarl_en spoke loud and clear today, with 529 votes in favour of granting EU candidate status to Moldova🇲🇩 and Ukraine🇺🇦.
The ball is now in Member States' court and I hope today's #EUCO will take the right decision.

This tremendous work done by him & other journalists in Europe is a must in any functioning democracy and their #independence & #safety must be guaranteed.
President @EmmanuelMacron's visit to Romania & the 500 French soldiers currently stationed there together with many other American & European troops are a proof of unprecedent Euro-Atlantic solidarity. Now we must all show clear support for the European path of Ukraine & Moldova.
Citizens asked for the revision of the EU #Treaties. With today's vote, the @europarl_en listened and delivered a clear message to the @EUCouncil.
We need the EU to have more competences in key areas such as #health & to be faster in decisions.
