Re @AdrianHiel @FT Good point, it indeed also implies stability, which is far from what we can expect 😔

This newsletter headline from the @FT has been on my mind for a couple of days.
They can write whatever they want, that's not my point, but it makes me ask myself the question:
Is it ok to describe current extreme weather events as 'normal'?

Re Maybe this is subjective, I'd love to know what others think, but doesn't the word 'normal' make you think of something that doesn't require your attention? That doesn't need to be challenged or fixed or confronted? Something you can ignore?

Re So I ask myself what is a better word? What conveys the fact that climate change is already here, and is scary, but that we can still do something to slow it down, and also to adapt to it?
Would I be less bothered by the word 'reality'? Is 'reality' visible, but not ok?

Re I would be curious to know what other people think, and what are the best ways you have found to confront this issue.
Because I think the next big obstacle, as we try to change policies and fix this mess, will be the shift from climate denial, to climate change normalisation.

Re Like I said at the start, this is not about an @FT headline. They are producing great eye-opening content on the climate crisis.
This was just the trigger to articulate several conversations I've had with others climate comms people recently.
Grateful for ideas and comments! 🙏
