🇪🇸PM Sánchez is trying to burden people of Spain with €94 bn in debt before the general elections. @EU_Commission should not assess this proposal before the vote. Decisions with long-term impact for Spanish people should be made by a legitimate government after the elections.1/4

The outgoing Spanish Government approved yesterday the addendum to the Recovery Plan, although it could send it to Brussels until 31 August. The Government is getting ahead of the general elections & does not want to hear the opinion of Spanish people in the 23 July election. 2/4

As the European Parliament's Rapporteur for the European Recovery and Resilience Facility, I say: the RRF is money from the people of Europe for the people of Spain. It is not a pocket at the disposal of a government. It cannot be used to buy votes before an election. 3/4

Decisions about the future of Spain should be made with newly elected mayors & presidents of regions, not with those who just lost the regional election last week, but with a new, legitimate government. @EU_Commission should not approve any plan during an electoral campaign. 4/4
