RT @jrockstrom: We urgently need a shift in our . While 80% of the world's arable land is used to produce animal-based foods, they contribute to only 18% of the global calorie supply. Important policy brief, read the English summary here: pik-potsdam.de/en/news/latest-

RT @europanels_EPF: We need to 1) stop GHG emissions 2) protect carbon sinks 3) create new carbon stores. Is there enough wood? Yes, if we reforest degraded areas now. Let's combine intelligence with nature, building beautifully, sustainably and inclusively with and materials.

RT @europanels_EPF: Solid wood is 5x lighter than concrete, and timber construction with makes the whole 10x lighter than concrete. Hi-tech (knowledge and skills) meets nature (organic materials such as and panels) to make the miraculous possible...

@lloydalter @ACSAUpdate Climate positive concrete housing is a non sequitur. Primarily because concrete can’t store carbon - unlike wood.

@FlyingQuercus @nielbarn @andyheald We can also grow a great deal of wood fibre on farms and fast ie willow ready in 3 years. Grow it in an agroforestry setting & a series of win-wins are triggered ie increased biodiversity.

@realjoegreeeen @lewis_goodall But who funds the Conservative Party? It's hardly clear.

@lennyantonelli @MoreOurselves Agree 'unused' a bit problematic but some brownfield sites are 'neither nowt nor summat'. Rather we need to be optimising land use across some key 'uses' eg food, wood, biodiversity, carbon storage & recreation. Ideally they are overlapping hence key role for agroforestry.

@lennyantonelli @MoreOurselves Needs a combination approach, as Potsdam paper sets out. Less land for direct & indirect meat production will help, a key role for agroforestry, surprising amounts of unused & underused land esp. Romania, Bulgaria & France. Several countries nowhere near annual felling increment.
