EU 'Parliament adopts position on law to green EU houses by 2050'. Step in the right direction but we also need to remember the significant CO2 emissions from building materials. A shift to nature-based materials such as wood can help here. @KiraTaylor15 euractiv.com/section/energy-en

@zkun1971 @ForestDefence @skyddaskogen @LBurnelius @Fern_NGO If you oppose cutting trees why not also oppose cutting cereal crops? Both are 'clear cuts'. Trees once every 30-50yrs (ie not very often), cereals once every year (ie very often in comparison). Both followed by replanting = sustainable/circular. Don't we need both wood & food?

Agree, we don't want Russian athletes involved in the Paris Olympics.
RT @ZelenskyyUa: Against the backdrop of continued Russian aggression and devastating war crimes, the IOC is “exploring ways” to permit Russian athletes to participate in the Paris Olympics. We urge partners to join our marathon of honesty, counter these efforts, and protect the Olympic Charter.

@CarbonGap @EU_Commission Agree we need new technological ways of carbon dioxide removal but we shouldn't overlook the existing & significantly under utilised option of removing CO2 via trees & plants which can then be made into construction materials to store CO2 in buildings bit.ly/3jsbP4V

In Japan you will find a school points to the future.
RT @wrathofgnon: The town of Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture rebuilt a junior high school using solid timber from their own forests. Using no ventilation, AC or heating, the school has a comfortable indoor climate (for ex. 40-60% humidity) year round). Finishing was all organic oils (sesame etc.).

It is indeed referenced as an option for safely storing carbon & technically it would work BUT it is a ridiculous/criminal waste of wood. You can achieve exactly the same by using more wood in the built environment PLUS it substitutes for carbon releasing concrete & steel.
