#rescEU shelter capacity is a big step in the EU’s crisis response as it enhances our preparedness for sudden large-scale movements of people.

Shelter is far more than just a roof over one’s head. It provides security, protection and dignity to people uprooted from their homes.

I have announced €60 million of EU humanitarian funding for 2023 alone to ensure aid for the most vulnerable people in Lebanon. This includes Syrian refugees and the affected Lebanese.

Clearly, the political, financial and economic crises have taken their dramatic toll, foremost on the people of Lebanon.

I am visiting #Lebanon🇱🇧 which is facing multiple crises, putting more and more people at risk.

Lebanon also hosts some 1.5 million Syrian refugees, the highest number of refugees per capita in the world.

Around 4 million people need humanitarian aid to meet their basic needs.

A Humanitarian Air Bridge flight carrying 100 tonnes of much needed medical relief items, among other goods, landed in Kabul this morning.

This is the 2nd ✈️ operation this month and the 28th since 2021, ensuring the continued EU support to #Afghans in need.
