A interesting & scarce Ashantee Medal from the 1873-74 campaign (Third Ashanti War), awarded to Pte. Asumo of Glover’s Hausa Force. One of the many freed slaves recruited by Sir John Glover, who enlisted into the nucleus of what later became the West African Frontier Force.

Just driven past what was RAF #Scampton and feel disgusted by the scant regard our Govt. has for our military heritage. That they should ignore such a superb opportunity, is tantamount to vandalism. I haven’t forgotten when RAF Biggin Hill Officer’s Mess building was sold off.

Very sad to read of the sudden passing of Paul O’Grady. That instantly recognisable voice and the ability to laugh at himself always bought a smile to my face. Furthermore, his genuine love of animals marked him out as thoroughly decent man. My condolences to his loved ones.
