It was a bad week for people who tried to cross EU’s borders with fraudulent documents🛂. Our standing corps officers managed to detect 53 such documents within the past days. We currently have 141 document experts deployed in all our operations
Last week, our plane spotted 19 migrant boats with 587 people on board when flying over the Central Mediterranean Sea.
#Frontex immediately alerted nearby national rescue coordination centres to send help as soon as possible
Boats abandoned in the high seas pose a significant threat for navigation. On average, we spot around five such boats every day.
Anytime this happens, we issue a navigation warning to all relevant authorities so that other ships transiting the area can avoid collision 🛥️

Recently, our surveillance plane detected a rubber boat adrift in the Central Mediterranean and immediately broadcasted a Mayday to all nearby vessels. The rescue was performed by an NGO vessel which was close to the incident

🐕🦺Canine teams have an important role to play in #Frontex operations. They help detect drugs and explosives, firearms and ammunition, and search buildings and other areas for lost persons. There are currently 23 dog handlers working in our operations
