Very good speech by @Future_Cities - especially good in debunking stats & assertions about clean air used to justify low emissions zones such as (clue, science shows air has become cleaner & less pollution in cities despite hyperbolic claims by likes of Sadiq Khan)

We rightly worry about UK Gov delegating too many powers to Executive, with the use of Stautory Instruments/Henry VIII powers etc. But bloody hell, this is something else from Macron. I'm hope those here who've fawned over him as a model liberal leader will lead the condemnations

This was one day 'Inside the Lords' that I loved. Mainly cos it was spent with 6th form students debating - often far more cogently than m'luds. Many thanks to @UKHouseofLords and @DebatingMatters, (& students & teachers), for organising such an inspiring, feisty, challenging.

Informative and important (announcement) thread from @HarryScoffin for all and anyone interested in how we can ensure is near its end-days as a feudal/rip-off system of semi-ownership

Final stages of the Public Order Bill. Good news, government accepted an amendment protecting journalists from arrest when covering protest. I argued to keep threshold high before police can close down demos, whether anti-LTN or lorry drivers going slow over fuel price - whoever.

I asked a Q about the Manchester Arena bombing report. How helpful is it to recommend when we know it's too broadly applied & institutions conflate Islamist extremism with legit views (everything from opposing ULEZ to concerns about small boats branded far-right/Nazi)?

It's about defending the RIGHT to express those views. Supporting someone's free speech is never about endorsing their views/speech they use. Otherwise, it would be easy. I didn't agree with Lineker's tweets. At all. But defended his right to tweet them without being sacked etc

Excellent column from @stephenpollard Explains much more eloquently, what I've been trying to say, about dangers of leaping for "they're all Nazis" insult. Far more than damaging, histoically-illiterate hyperbole. It underplays & relativises true horrors of Third Reich Germany

This raises some of the interesting and more subtle points about the dilemmas of impartiality for the BBC. Love the use of the word "inconsiderate" used about Lineker by Portillo. He makes a good point.
