We will support our farmers in this transition.

EU countries could use the Common Agricultural Policy funds to cover the costs of the new requirements for farmers for 5 years.

This protects our health, especially that of the most vulnerable.

Pesticides kill pollinators. Alternative methods of pest prevention need to be considered first. Pesticides may be used as a last resort measure.

@Paco_Cylinder That is why we are offering concrete financial help to farmers via Common Agricultural Policy () to cover the costs of any requirements stemming from the new rules. See details in our Q&A:

@methylcytosine We're not proposing to prohibit chemical pesticides but to reduce their use & risk. We cannot wait 20 years. Biodiversity, on which all farming depends, is declining, we need to act now. Environmentally friendly pest control & low risk alternatives are the way forward.

@mekong1981 You got us there. That's not a good picture to illustrate. - But the point remains: There is no way around a shift towards a more sustainable food system, we need this Strategy.
