@orxpax Yes, as an EU citize, you have the right to ask for help from another EU country if your own country doesn't have an embassy in the country where you are travelling. Their embassy must help you in the same way they would help their own citizens.

@yrealj Als Nederland geen ambassade heeft in een land buiten de EU, maar een ander land wel, dan hebben Nederlandse burgers daar recht op consulaire bescherming. Burgers van niet-EU-landen hebben buiten de EU hetzelfde recht als ze familieleden of medereizigers zijn van EU-burgers.

@watsonmarkj EU countries are sovereign and have thus their own embassies. The Consular protection allows EU citizens from any country to ask for help should their own country not have an embassy.

- ze hulp nodig hebben (kwijtgeraakte documenten, ongelukken, etc.);
- hun land geen ambassade of consulaat heeft in het land dat ze momenteel bezoeken.
