All those who accuse PM #ViktorOrban with being racist, pls read his words pronounced in Vienna today:
"I define myself ... as an anti-immigration politician & I would like Hungary not to become an immigrant country & I would not like migration to become stronger in HU.
2️⃣ By a mandatory 15% reduction in their gas consumption, how can EU countries with sufficient gas supplies help MSs lacking it?
Are we sure that common sense prevails in this plan?
1️⃣ How is it compatible with the treaty's provision that the determination of the energy mix is entirely up to the MS? In other words, according to the Treaties, it is the MSs competence to decide how much it uses from which energy sources.
I take note that despite HU’s opposition, the Council adopted the 15% #gas cut target. Let me just mention two out of the many questions that have come to my mind concerning this decision:
(2/2) Plus, Moscow's rapprochement to #China is accelerating who is willing to fill the gap, meaning that the 2 Blocks' distance from Western partners is increasing.
We are on the side of peace. You cannot create peace by applying #sanctions that hurt us more than the Russians.
(3/3) By providing incentives, #SMEs can become an important driver of the green transition as they have significant innovative capabilities. The report clearly proves that SME screening is essential and should be used before adopting new legislative norms.
(2/3) As the Annual Report on European SMEs also points out (see in https://ec.europa.eu/growth/document/download/40742729-315d-48ed-b7f1-6335ce2819b8_en), without thorough impact assessment, adequate technical and financial assistance provided and capacity building, it is impossible to involve #SMEs into green and digital transition.
(1/3) According to @EU_Commission, #SMEs are critical to the success of the green transition in the EU, while acknowledging that green transition is capital intensive and risky, i.e. extremely challenging for #SMEs.
