EP is blind to physical, technical&geographical constraints.
COM & Council are aware of this, but, the EP's proposal to exclude oil & nuclear investments from the projects eligible for support under this initiative demonstrates that it's a/st the successful energy transition of Central Europe.
Today at #EPplenary in the #REPowerEU debate I pointed out that the accelerated energy transition, inevitable due to the RU aggression, confronts MSs with different challenges.
This is particularly true for SMEs.
it's counterproductive to place additional burden on 🇪🇺 companies even in peacetime, but in times of war, after a pandemic and on the eve of another crisis & potential recession, when many of them are already struggling to survive, it's a gigantic mistake.
In #EPplenary debate on Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive I took a stand for #SMEs, jobs and European competitiveness:
At today’s debate COM @McGuinnessEU promises to be proportionate as to #SMEs’ reporting obligations. If it is so, why do not we include this as an obligation into the draft #CSRD? Why not to extent all SMEs?
Despite this dirty, ideology-driven political scheming, we deliver on our promises & put into practice what we agreed with the COM back in August.
Small victory at today's #EPplenary: EP majority wasn't partner for the left and rejected its attempt to squeeze another #Hungary debate on the plenary's agenda. From left to liberals they have one objective: to prevent Hungary from getting the funds it is entitled to.
Today I took a piece of the #ironcurtain with me when I spoke at a commemoration organised by @FidanzaCarlo. It's now back on my office wall as a reminder that we, Hungarians, were not given freedom as a gift, but that we have always had & have to fight for it.

The greatness & appeal of the former heir to the throne is shown by so many of our fellow MEPs from all political groups, who attended the ceremony. His life's work & courageous commitment to Central Europe and to the Christian roots of the community are an eternal guide for us.
"Europe is for all Europeans" said #OttovonHabsburg. He was a MEP for 20 years. During his mandate, he worked to tear down the #ironcurtain that divided 🇪🇺. The exhibition opened today in the EP by the @VonFoundation & @seidel_hanns is a fitting tribute to his life's work.
So consequences and resilience are uneven, but clearly Europe suffers most. Households and companies pay a high price. Time to rethink sanctions.
But what we can see so far is that RU is not on its knees yet, & many countries in&outside the 🇪🇺 have increased their #trade w/h RU.
