Climate change will almost inevitably bring arthropod borne tropical diseases to Europe. This is probably just the first of mosquito borne diseases. Malaria, Chikungunya, Zika, West Nile, Yellow Fever, East and West Equine Encephalitis are big worries potentially on the horizon.

Always predicted this would happen. Proud London Region I represented for 20 years as MEP voted Remain and had EU citizens had a vote would have been overwhelmingly so.

R to @CharlesTannock: In fact ROK has an effective standing military of 500000 and over 3 million reservists making it one of the largest and most powerful militaries including a formidable air force and naval forces in the world. If they were send to troops to Ukraine it would truly be a game changer
[2024-10-16 15:47 UTC]
Makes sense. I'm sure ROK (Sth Korea) with a much bigger economy & population also have a large well trained army with huge military capacity. ROK has nothing to gain by victory by Russia & DPRK (Nth Korea) & much to lose as a bellicose nuclear alliance of dangerous dictatorships

So what! Heads of government globally meet celebrities everywhere, are endorsed politically by celebrities, decorate celebrities etc. What is the story exactly or am I missing something.

In the UK we are always told such a thing is impossible as it is in the ECHR let alone when we were still in the EU. Poland has a very different take on its international obligations it seems. Interesting to see how this radical move pans out as many EU countries will be watching

Delighted in my capacity as goodwill Ambassador for Depaul International, a global homeless charity, to visit their Night Shelter in Bratislava, accompanied by Jozef Kákoš, Director of DePaul Slovensko, & hear about their local expansion plans & challenges they face in Slovakia.

There must never be impunity for war crimes, crimes against humanity & genocide. Such international humanitarian crimes are against all of humanity& all those responsible must be held accountable if we want a better world in which innocent people are not victims of heinous crimes

RT by @CharlesTannock: Putin is the first dictator since Hitler to invade a European country & annex territory, terrorize Ukrainians citizens, and kidnap Ukrainian children, violating some of the fundamental norms of our international system. Not a thug you should have on speed dial.

It's entirely for the Iranian people to decide whether they want a Republic or a Monarchy but the proud inheritors of the great Persian civilisation deserve better & if the exiled monarchy can help restore stability & liberty to Iran all friends of a free Iran should support it.

Genocide is a crime in international law and Russia is a signatory and bound by the 1948 Convention. Incitement to genocide is a crime subject to universal jurisdiction. I hope one day the many Russians in its media and command responsibility guilty of such a crime face justice.

A reset based on cherry picking and demanding unilateral concessions was always set to fail. Why did Labour government refuse a youth mobility scheme? Cost to taxpayer was minimal compared to goodwill generated. Why forbid EU ID cards for tourist purposes. Easy concessions by HMG

Russia has become a rogue state which deserves universal condemnation. The execution of captured POWs who surrender is a vile war crime. No ifs or buts to my mind. War is awful but there are rules governing it & it's illegal to violate them. I pray UKR will find justice one day.

My feelings exactly. The 1968-73 deportation of the Chagossians, to make a people free secure Diego Garcia military base for the US, mainly to Mauritius left an historic blemish which hopefully Mauritius will now rectify by allowing their right of return to the outlying atholls.
