RT by @CarolineLucas: 📺 "They want that team of Green MPs who can push Labour..."

@carla_denyer speaks to Sky News about the need to elect the next generation of Green MPs on 4 July.

RT by @CarolineLucas: Brighton has led the way by electing the amazing @CarolineLucas to have a strong, independent voice. An incredible city that puts its values behind public services that serve the people, climate justice and inclusive rights. Join my campaign to keep Brighton Pavilion Green today!

RT by @CarolineLucas: Keir Starmer really annoys me when he says he will deliver for working people. What about the young, the old, those unable to work for any reason, students, full time carers and so many others who do not count as working people? Don’t they matter to Labour?

Westminster may be gripped by election fever now, but in other news tomorrow Ofwat will be deciding if greedy & failing water companies can hike bills by up to 91%. I joined nearly 40 MPs across parties calling on Ofwat to reject their outrageous demand.

Rishi being rained on whilst reading out his Government’s obituary - could anything be more fitting?

[2024-05-22 16:18 UTC]

It's official. This dying, dangerous, divisive Government has finally admitted defeat & named the date. Now’s our chance to kick them out! Labour on course for landslide - making it even more vital to elect Green MPs to hold them to account & ensure fair future for all

Sunak’s govt is hiding behind convention of not sharing legal advice to avoid even admitting whether the Attorney General advised PM about war crimes in Gaza – if war crimes aren’t a rare exception to the rule to keep legal advice secret – what would be under this immoral govt?

[2024-05-22 15:19 UTC]

Tory MP just forced vote on essentially scrapping any semblance of a UK asylum system, contravening Refugee Convention. Labour sit on fence & abstain. Really? More than disappointing -surely a functioning asylum system is something even this Labour frontbench would stand up for?

Even now, with an even more alarming assault on our democratic rights through Walney's report,
nitter.privacydev.net/UKLabour
are still failing to stand up to this lurch towards authoritarianism, saying his recommendations need looking at "in more depth" when much of it should be rejected outright.

Walney's report is dangerous, draconian and undemocratic. Masquerading as an independent report, it is an overtly political hit job on our most fundamental civil rights, including the right to protest and trial by jury. We cannot afford to underestimate how serious this threat is

[2024-05-22 13:48 UTC]

Walney asked wouldn't his rules have made suffragettes, anti-apartheid or LGBTQ+ protestors extremists? Says it's different: suffragettes didn't have the vote. Because who needs right to protest when we can vote once every 5 years (under unrepresentative first past post system)?

Last year, Southern Water released raw sewage into our waters for 317,285 hours, up 116% on the year before. Now they are asking Ofwat if they can put up our bills by a whopping 91% to pay for their failure? It's an outrage. What an absolute scam.

RT by @CarolineLucas: The Government has just published a report demanding draconian new anti-protest powers, specifically to protect defence and energy companies, while failing to mention its author's role as a paid lobbyist for... arms and fossil fuel industry groups

RT by @CarolineLucas: Caroline Lucas raises a point of order about the Government's publication of a report demanding draconian new anti-protest laws to protect the defence and fossil fuel industry, while failing to mention its authors ties to those industries bylinetimes.com/2024/05/21/sun

I pay tribute to all those who fought for justice on
nitter.privacydev.net/search?q
for so long & welcome Govt finally accepting urgency of compensation. But there will be an accountability gap without an independent body to monitor & oversee implementation of report's recommendations
