So morally bankrupt & unworkable Rwanda Bill passes 2nd Reading 313 to 269 - helped by plenty of Tories who “reluctantly” said they could support the “principles” of the Bill. But the principles are precisely overriding the courts & disregarding the law. Shame on them

Those trying to justify absurd Rwanda Bill overriding our courts & laws in the name of “Parliamentary sovereignty” are wrong. Parliament can only be sovereign *within a functioning legal & constitutional system* where courts can interpret law - which this Bill totally undermines.

Last week Home Sec sent letter round to MPs saying regardless of facts & law, this Bill says Parliament can decide Rwanda is safe, courts will be hobbled & our human rights law ignored. Why is he fronting grim slide into authoritarianism for policy he himself considers "batshit"?

UK Govt fence-sitting on UN ceasefire vote last week was unforgivable. 5 wars in 15 year, yet living conditions in Gaza are still unimaginable, rockets are still fired into Israel, and no-one is safer. There is no military solution to this conflict - only a political one.
