Painful to witness Starmer in tortuous arguments about “making Brexit work” when it clearly can’t and won’t. Pretending we can prosper just as well outside the EU as inside is intellectually dishonest, as mounting evidence shows

@CarolineLucas Yes I heard that too. He's tying himself in knots. I fear in his enthusiasm to regain the 'red wall' he will alienate Labour's foot soldiers to the extent of handing the next GE to 'our' sworn enemy.

@CarolineLucas Apparently he's got a better deal. But he doesn't say what it is. Apparently our trading failure is based on national geography - and while that is cleary unfair he offers no evidence to prove that would work without access to SM and CU.

He is an empty vessel.

@CarolineLucas No one stopped media companies in Bristol or elsewhere doing well in the EU when we were in the EU. And no one can improve their prospects when the closest markets are not there and flying round the world is the solution.

He still has his feet firmly on planet #SixTests. Perhaps one day he will come down to earth and see what life is really life.

@CarolineLucas I disagree. I heard the argument, which seems to me clear and reasonable. Let's not start another vicious round of divisive talk about a binary choice. Instead, restore trust with EU, try for improved deal, and wait until public is hugely (at least 70%) in favour of rejoining. Then see if EU wants us. I am usually in total agreement with you, about all things, FYI!

@ORIOliver @CarolineLucas yeah sure let’s keep appeasing the angry *minority* who still backs the Brexit scam, as if Brexit wasn’t costing 4%-6% of GDP each year and causing the worst labour shortage on record. Let’s all heil the Brexit culture of xenophobia and toxic nationalism so we can live in harmony with the far-right 👍🏻

@CarolineLucas what is he doing? I Unless he's so paranoid that he'll lose Brexit voters (he'll lose more votes with this stance), or maybe he's trying to push the many ex Brexit supporters to shout louder that they no longer want this, so the new "will of the people" is clear? Who knows but I don't like his lack of solutions to this terrible mess. Glad it's not close to GE time with this going on..
