Re @tig_james The right wing of the Conservative Party are looking beyond 2024. They think Labour’s failures after 2024 will allow the Conservatives to be re-elected in 2028. The Conservative right want to start now on radicalising the Party in readiness for that return in five years time.

Re @edwinhayward By the time we get to a referendum most people will probably have lost interest in who voted which way in 2016. Many voters will by then only dimly remember how they themselves voted, if indeed they were able to vote in the first place.

Re @acgrayling There are too many commentators resigned to the idea that it will take many years to reverse Brexit. Their resignation risks becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. The sooner we start the process of rejoining the EU, the sooner that process will be successfully concluded.
