🔴 For trade unions, the European elections are an opportunity to provide new impulses for European politics. After the COVID, energy, and security crises, questions of socio-ecological transformation, climate change, and Europe's growing global systemic competition have become much more pressing and pose enormous challenges for Europe.

🔴 Today and tomorrow, a seminar called "Connecting the EU" is taking place in , organized by the @EU_EESC in cooperation with the HSV SR @AVybor and @EU_ELA. The focus is on the elections to the in 2024. The results of these elections will significantly influence the direction of the EU in the next five years.

🔴 Therefore, it is not only natural but also necessary to mobilize civil society organizations, including trade unions, to help achieve high voter turnout. It is essential to perceive the geopolitical context of these elections, as there is a retreat from democracy in several member states and a loss of trust in democratic institutions, affecting all countries.

🇸🇰 It is important, also from the perspective of trade unions, to emphasize and explain the importance of the European community for individual member states and their inhabitants. There are many benefits that EU membership brings to Slovak citizens, but its most significant social dimension must be translated into the national context. The advantages need to be viewed through the lens of the realization of social and labor rights. The European Union can be seen as a large social project bringing a multitude of social measures that would be much harder to implement and fulfill if we were not a member country of the EU.
