In the universal language of music, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony – the Ode to Joy – was picked as our anthem in 1985.
As we celebrate his 253rd birthday, we pay tribute to this brilliant European whose transcendent music expresses the European ideals of freedom, unity, and solidarity.
It brought together more than 1,300 musicians from 43 countries to form Europe’s biggest online orchestra in 2021!
