RT @PGDynes: Spain's farms are dying. Their pastures are disappearing. Their livestock is becoming too expensive to even feed. Their ministers resort to calling for the EU crisis mechanism to be triggered. The crisis is now an EU farming and food supply crisis. t.co/bmAWN7IBho

@parholmgren

Predictable and predicted.

And for too many in Central and Northern Europe it hasn't even sunk in that this affects /their/ food prices too.

@parholmgren
It's beginning to look like Spain might become the first “Western" country to fail because of climate change.

It's going to require a herculean effort to adapt.

@parholmgren Just Murcia produces ~2.5 million tons of produce. Almería is another one. Three of the main countries that fruit and vegetable products from Almería are exported to are the Netherlands (13.55%), France (13.5%) and the UK (11.4%).

Almería exports 322,600 tonnes of fruit and vegetable produce, representing 9.2% of the total from Spain.

As you we’ll say, the impact is going to be huge… for everyone. This is far from a “Spanish problem.”
