I hope that the McAnespie family can find some peace and comfort after this long-awaited verdict today.
It also further reinforces the injustice of the Govt's Legacy Bill, which would deny justice in similar cases.

The exceptions are where the court awards legal aid because it's in the interests of justice.
It isn't awarded to solictors, but to clients who could otherwise not afford to access justice.

@JohnMar90718642 In fairness most of it is health and most of that is pay and heating.
We also had no ability to redistribute money between departments due to the DUP walk out.
But if you can do better, run for office.
@dmurray0 @JohnMar90718642 Agreed. Departments don't deliver by magic: we have to pay our civil service to make things happen. My own department had to stop replacing people who left to save money, but that means fewer people to deliver and so key projects slow or stop. Those left are under huge pressure.

@tbdukni Well, it does. The money at the centre was money we had to spend but couldn't access. The overspend is money we didn't have.
So, one minus the other gives the actual deficit.
@Belfast20211 @katy_scarletta When there is no Executive, there is no means to get approval. Had there been, I'd not have needed to issue a Ministerial direction.
@taffdon @StephenFarryMP Yes, I set it aside to ensure legal aid bills could continue to be paid within the 12 week statutory period, to ensure that access to justice for those without financial means and ensure that small law firms don't collapse.
