@BladeLisburn They can get up to 5 years in custody. Sadly, I'm not aware of anyone receiving the maximum.
@lynnone57432657 They were increased by @DavidFordxMLA - the maximum is 5 years custodial - however, I'm not aware of it ever being used.

Minimum sentencing isn't something we usually legislate for as it fetters judicial independence.

Today, I led a debate on this in Parliament. We are ratcheting up pressure on the UK Government. Answers are expected shortly.
@buzzhornet @Tolstoy1999 Why would we punish ourselves whilst those responsible draw full pay? We have sought a solution to ensure they can no longer do so - that it unfairly punishes us hasn't stopped us.
@Titter_of_wit @hq247Shiv @BelTel There is a Sentencing Bill prepared for this mandate and legislation I took through the Assembly in the last mandate did stipulate maximum sentences for a range of offences.
However, the judiciary are responsible for sentencing, based on pre-sentence reports and guideline cases.
@Titter_of_wit @hq247Shiv @BelTel It doesn't need to be an MLA: any member of the public can email the Director of Public Prosecutions and ask him to consider appealing on grounds of undue leniency.

And we aren't going to continue to take full salary: we have successfully lobbied to have salaries reduced and that should happen soon.
