@SeanMcC1967 @dmcbfs And sought to deliver it. But we didn't need a deal to go back into Government: we weren't holding the institutions to ransom.
My point was that NDNA like every deal, wasn't what all parties wanted. It was what we got.
@MervynMolyneaux Molyneaux is a French name. Great country though it is, your ancestors came here and settled. I'm sure they also made a positive contribution to their new home. That's how immigration works.

I have condemned arson (it was) and asked people to assist the police with their enquiries.
@DeeNIWATP They are not being treated better than tax paying citizens: by definition economic migrants want to be tax paying citizens.
And immigration is necessary to grow our economy to pay for public services in an aging population - study after study shows that to be the case.

@MervynMolyneaux Or maybe many of the migrants have cultural and language ties to the UK?
Maybe they believed the UK was a country that would uphold their rights and freedoms?
Irrespective of that, they can legally seek refuge here and should be treated fairly and with dignity when they do.

And we know legislation can change; that's what we're advocating, up to and including reform.
@dmcbfs We did. We said it was daft and argued for more significant reform to deliver stability.
The Governments instead chose to believe that the two main parties had learned their lesson and would never do this again.
We went into the Executive to serve the public, not due to NDNA.
@Woodyoubeliveit I'm not arguing for that. People often aren't safe or settled in France (the camps are very dangerous), but they aren't seeking asylum from France.
The way to deal with illegal migration is to have safe legal routes; instead, this government has closed those down in most cases.

@Woodyoubeliveit Learn the law: there's no obligation to stop in the first safe country you reach.
Many do seek asylum in other places.
However, some may have family, language and other connections to the UK, which makes it where they feel safest claiming refuge.
@BladeLisburn They didn't complain it wasn't enough. Educate yourself about the issues.
And I have news for you: the people who don't care about what these people are going through? They're the same people who don't care about our own citizens who are destitute, either.

Alliance reps both support local businesses, by spending local and promoting them, and we also visit homeless centres, asylum accommodation and donate to foodbanks to support those who need our help.
So, yes. It is my serious answer.
