RT @mark_dow: If the government had just provided good regulation, I never would have bought that jpeg of a rock for $400K

Great question by @rglucks1 : Wagner murders and rapes massively. It needs to be in the list of terrorist organizations. Why is it not?
RT @rglucks1: Wagner viole, massacre, terrorise.

RT @ianbremmer: america’s key allies (canada, japan, uk, france, germany..) worry about a potential trump 2nd term because they believe he poses a threat to us democracy & political institutions.

they have no such concern—next to zero—about any other likely democrat or republican candidate.

RT @Simon_Mongey: @HannoLustig @Noahpinion This is how I teach it, its a huge intellectual jump. It puts reaching for inefficiencies as an explanation for complex data on a back foot. Instead, first try to figure out whether an efficient model can get it right. One of my favorite examples: t.co/gcfKoIb1Yk

@joanjulia1 @PayoMiguel @Twitter @elonmusk Those are hard engineering problems. What he faces here is a hard social problem. His approach, i fear, will not work.

RT @yarotrof: Kherson would have been a ruin, and tens of thousands would have died in the campaign, if Himars strikes on bridges hadn’t hamstrung Russian logistics and forced the Russians to withdraw without urban combat. The U.S. literally saving civilian lives with weapons deliveries.

@Amparopolo Muy cierto Amparo.

RT @Birdyword: @lugaricano @duncanrobinson @Twitter @elonmusk The only exception I'd offer to this is that some high profile accounts get a lot of horrible abuse, but yeah people with a few thousand followers or less who don't like the way the site works are telling on themselves.

RT @Birdyword: Real year for the mainstream orthodoxy crowd. Big wins for the guy that thought overdoing stimulus is dangerous, that crypto is mostly just scams, that authoritarianism is bad and inefficient.

RT @lugaricano: We should all be doing all we can to make @Twitter thrive (@elonmusk or no Musk)- it is a stunning information source.

RT @ESYudkowsky: Okay, so in terms of making advance predictions, let me say something I consider really obvious: Nobody ought to be holding, like, anything, in Tether. I suppose it's *possible* they're on the level, but why risk it?

As I said, @Twitter is the best source of information there is, by a huge margin, if you know how to use it (hint- not to signal virtue or call names!). Rather than quitting, let´s do our best to help.

And Ukraine sanctions, a topic I was very much involved from the EU Parliament- sorry for quoting myself on Feb 26. Serious academic economists like @ben_moll fought it out here against industry lobbyists who argued we could do nothing to sanction Russia.

Ok, ok, on my topic- economics. You could get first hand news of the great inflation fight right here, on Twitter. @LHSummers, the top policy&academic macroeconomist of his generation, fought it and won in front of us.

On Russia and Ukraine, the best follow has been @KofmanMichael . If you followed him, you would have known that the invasion was likely and, by April, that Russian forces were exhausted

If you follow @BBC China correspondant @StephenMcDonell (a must!)-, you learned about COVID in 2019. Also, you had an early Feb estimate of doubling time of 5 days, which proved optimistic (!) during first phase. Even with that figure it was clear it could have massive impact.

In each of the recent unprecedented events, Twitter has allowed anyone to get news far in advance of the mass media, straight from primary sources.
I show key examples on:
- Covid
- Ukraine
- Inflation
- Energy
In each case I quote one RT of mine to show it is not just hindsight

We should all be doing all we can to make @Twitter thrive (@elonmusk or no Musk)- it is a stunning information source.

If you experience Twitter as a swamp, you only have youself to blame. You choose who you follow, block and mute.

A thread in praise of Twitter.
