You may have heard about the drag show ban in Tennessee.
Unfortunately this is part of a worldwide surge in attacks on the rights of LGBTIQ+ people and specifically trans people. 🧵

Conservative forces are pushing for anti-drag laws that aim to erase LGBTIQ+ people from public spaces under the cover of ‘protecting children’.
This dangerous rhetoric is spreading to Europe as well:

The Swedish far-right tried to stop a drag storytime hour in a local library, because it would ‘confuse children’: https://www.svt.se/nyheter/lokalt/smaland/sd-politiker-vill-stoppa-sagostund-for-smabarn-med-dragqueens

Equality will win.
But we need to speak out against these rhetorics, continue celebrating diversity and actively create space for LGBTIQ+ education.

This is a dangerous trend. And it doesn’t stop at drag shows. In several US states gender affirming care was banned for minors.
I stand in solidarity with the drag and trans community and am working to protect our queer-siblings from undergoing similar treatments in the EU.
