Finally, we must be very clear that there will be severe consequences if China tries to violate the rules-based international order. This cannot be empty talk. We must be well prepared for where all of this might take us.

Russia is showing weakness, not strength. Our response must be strong, not weak. Serious sanctions, troop deployments in the Baltics and more air+sea defence systems on the eastern flank of NATO would send a message of solidarity and determination, not fear and prevarication.
