@DVLAgovuk You missed the bit where I said I'd found the log book and fixed it. Whilst I appreciate your positive input, nothing you said addresses the issues I had whilst I couldn't find the log book. You need to change something. This cannot be an uncommon fault.

This is ridiculous. Setting aside my holiday plans, there MUST be a way for getting a car reg transferred and the tax paid without waiting weeks.....

It's fixed. I found the logbook. But I was REALLY panicking.

I live in the country and this car is booked on a ferry to France in 2 1/2 weeks' time. No leeway; no mechanism to fix it; not even going to Swansea to submit manually. Which would be cheaper than a 6 week hire of a car big enough for me and the dog, + getting Brittany Ferries 5/

and paying £25. All of which is OK. BUT, because I couldn't print the form, I called them to ask how to get one otherwise. And was told that nothing I did could cause all this to take less than 6 weeks, that I could not drive the car in the meantime, and had to submit a SORN. 4/

So I did what the letter said and discovered that the car should have been transferred immediately. And I COULD NOT find the logbook. Without it, I could not pay the tax online, or transfer the registration without submitting a form 3/

(The insurance was OK. It had been switched to my name a year ago).

I (my OH) got an email from DVLA about a month ago thanking him for having paid the vehicle tax by DD. Then, last Friday, I (my OH) got a letter telling me the DD had failed. Most of our accounts were joint 2/
