Tomorrow there will be a vote to fill the vacant Vice-President seat of Eva Kaili.

For me, this is no ordinary vote.

This vote could be a strong signal to show how serious we are about winning back trust.

This Vice-Presidency could embody our ambition to change. /1

Sadly, it does not seem to go this way.

A social democrat, like Eva Kaili, will likely win and will be backed because of a backroom deal.

While being knowledgeable on his topics, he has neither a background in internal reform nor in transparency. /2

This is a mistake. The Social Democrats could have excused themselves and focused on internal reform.

The candidate for VP should have emerged as the most credible to promote reform across all groups.

Instead, we get business as usual.

A missed opportunity. /f
