@Bluesnaw @AgentP22 Fact, a devolved Parliament, “the Scottish Parliament, which adjourned on March 25, 1707, is hereby reconvened.” youtu.be/PB_aOAO0c4g

@timesscotland A row? The Scottish Parliament will legislate as it wants to legislate.
What the point of devolution if all legislations are to be the same across the United Kingdom?
Listen to yourself

@Bluesnaw @AgentP22 Your interpretation of facts is far from the truth, a wrecking ball it is and there were no need for it.
I notice that they have nothing else than this wrecking ball as they are refusing to engage with the Scottish Parliament on the matter since using it.

@RangersJim @Stu1211 @AgentP22 Thank you for keeping up, the first minister did not call section 35 “an affront to democracy” as you posted.
The action of the Secretary of State is the affront to democracy.

@RangersJim @Stu1211 @AgentP22 What she says it is what she says, claiming that she said something else should be considered as untrue.

@Bluesnaw @AgentP22 Section 35 is for Scotland only and Donald Dewar was very clear on how it should be used if ever. Wales have a similar devolved arrangement and like our section 35, it requires a gentle approach, not to be used as a wrecking ball.

@JimMcLe75772507 @AgentP22 Westminster’s first past the post voting system reduces democracy from the outset and avoids coalition. Most bills down there are voted in by the party in power and the party in power only. The unelected second chamber is full of party donors, a chamber with no teeth whatsoever.

@JimMcLe75772507 @AgentP22 The Scottish Parliament has all the checks and balances it needs from the proportional voting system electing members of parliament to the different stages bills go through with votes and amendments taking place both in the chamber and at committee level.
No unelected Lords here

@JimMcLe75772507 @AgentP22 Can a Welsh law be stopped in the same way?
A UK Secretary of State has a similar power to stop a piece of Welsh legislation from becoming law.
His opinion matters as the Welsh Government has plans for a similar Bill:

@JimMcLe75772507 @AgentP22 In my experience, all ultra vires challenges between the two parliaments are ironed out before the passing of bills and not after, never mind using section 35 at the end of the process.
