Today I attended the @BICSecretariat Summit in Blackpool alongside fellow ministers from the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands, where I stressed my strong commitment to restoring a functioning Executive to deliver stability for the people of Northern Ireland. (1/2)
Today on Armistice Day, we remember all those from Northern Ireland and across the British Isles, who bravely and selflessly answered the call of duty, and in many cases gave their lives - not only to protect this country but also in the interests of democracy across the world.

NI’s electorate voted in May to have their voices heard. For six months the Parties failed to work together. They must move forward now and, with courage, understanding & compromise, uphold the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement on which the devolved settlement depends. (2/3)

I can confirm that no Assembly election will take place in December. Current legislation requires me to name a date for an election to take place within 12 weeks of 28 October. Next week, I will make a statement in Parliament to lay out my next steps. (2/2)
