RT @JolyonMaugham: A reminder: Liz Truss has precisely zero democratic mandate for her Britannia Unchained agenda of fracking and bankers bonuses. If she wants to do this stuff she should put it to the country.

RT @ChampersChuck: I saw this online but cropped so as not to share the poster’s username. Two Police Scotland officers follow a lone young woman from a protest and say “tell us where you live and we will let you go…” The police aren’t fit for purpose if this is the response to a democratic right

@19Averil They don't appear to have a clue about what you do when inflation is caused by scarcity of goods, not too much money, and when low unemployment and job vacancies are caused by scarcity of labour for basic necessities, not by flourishing business and growth in activity 🙄🤔😕

54% of France's nuclear power stations are out of action due to corrosion, radiation risks, shortage of skilled personnel, and because nuclear fuel also comes from Russia. Don't be hoodwinked into misconceptions. Renewables are better in every respect.

RT @JudithFreedman: Just been contacted by a refugee family to ask if this website they had been sent is real energybills-online.com. It is a really nasty scam, suggesting they need to register with credit card details to get their £400 help. Beware. I am reporting to relevant authorities.

RT @Mandoline_Blue: The Times reporting on Liz Truss's 'ruthless' approach to Government.

"The edict from Truss and Kwarteng: anyone regarded as a distraction or obstacle to growth of the economy is to be removed."

Not sinister at all 😳

RT @GreenCllrs: East Surrey Councillor Lisa Scott told BBC Radio Surrey that government plans to lift the moratorium on fracking are a slow and dangerous way to tackle the energy crisis. “We can get wind farms in within six months. We can get solar within a year or so.”

RT @suzannezeedyk: 9. The irony is that suffering is transcendent for human beings. It gives things meaning. That's part of t point of The Queue, isn't it? People hv suffered a bit by t time they reach The Queen. Suffering turns it into a pilgrimage. Connection is a succour &joy during t long wait.

RT @sonofr: I mean, really! Do we - 'we' being the incompetent Tories' - ever get anything right?

"The UK government dismantled its largest gas storage facility in 2017, a decision taken by then chief secretary to the treasury – Liz Truss."

Long live his Kingdom - in a manner which ensures the people of Great Britain and Northern Ireland live in security, with prosperity, and enjoying well-being

RT @AndrewPRLevi: ✅ massive extra govt spending (otherwise business, economic and social collapse)

✅ tax back much of the extra from those most able to afford it (otherwise really-out-of-control inflation)

@ao_thwaites @Hepworthclare Crown revenues come to the state treasury. Sale of what was Royal Mail should never have been allowed.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@KernowDamo @Hepworthclare Yes, the Duchy is not one of the Crown estates. It's private property to provide revenue for the heir to the throne. The income doesn't go to the treasury (apart from the tax he pays) but it ensures he's not dependent on the reigning monarch for a grant. That's crucial.

@Hepworthclare @DAOBarry @SusanFairweathe I think that they probably should pay inheritance tax on the stuff left as inheritance in the will (about which we don't know, but obviously includes those Balmoral and Sandringham estates). The crown estates they don't own so no inheritance tax needed. Good point about Harry.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@ao_thwaites @Hepworthclare Well if the places were for sale, you can be sure someone would have bought them and would be making that money and keeping it themselves. As it is, as crown property, the revenue comes into the UK treasury: it's effectively state owned and leased to people to use it.

@Hepworthclare I think having the monarchy own and not be able to sell the sea shore and the sea bed is actually a really good thing and things would be unimaginably bad for us all if it were not so under an unscrupulous destructive privatising government.
