Children will need woolly vests, woolly knickers, woolly jumpers like when I was young. Real wool... Forgotten since profligate UK govts decided to squander our North Sea resources, burning it all at once at stupid low prices as if there were no tomorrow.
End plastic clothes!

This does. So why do Ofgem it away in their back pages. We shouldn't have to hunt around to find this basic information so we can get our calculators out & estimate our own bills.

@KayeMac04 Green hydrogen is only viable if it's part of a system to harvest spare wind power at times when the grid is overloaded and the turbines would have to be turned off. Agree that onshore wind is a no brainer and should be routinely approved.

I really don't think the Tories who engineered Brexit have any right to expect any European leader to befriend this country or take pity on us, while we continue with these unfriendly and rude Tory leaders in charge.
Maybe if we could change our spots to a friendlier regime?

RT @catherinerowett: @trussliz @MailOnline What's the source of the energy trouble, then? Tory governments that preferred to burn fossil fuels rather than insulate buildings or prepare for 100% renewable energy? Privatisation to deliver stonking profits to shareholders? Low wages and poor housing?
Hmmm, fix it will you?

RT @nicransome: Tories cannot serve two masters. And will not. Their master is the deathcult corporate oligarchy who would poison and kill us all for profit & ideology. Then there's us fuckwits, who vote for/enable them and pay their obscene salary, corrupt expenses & gravy-train food/alcohol.

Don't imagine that drilling for more fossil fuels will improve our situation. It'd just get sold to the global market at the same global prices. We'd just get the climate crisis, not any of the energy.

@kelvmackenzie Failure of Tory govt to invest in renewables or free us from global gas prices. Failure to insulate or reduce demand. that's cut the value of £, ruined access to markets in Europe. Low wages in an economy designed to exploit workers and enrich shareholders.

Felixstowe is a major port where much of our imported food and other goods arrives. Solidarity to those planning to take industrial action.
Shall we see empty shelves?
Most of us can't afford to buy anything that is on the shelf anyway. What's a £ worth these days? 🙁

Do the idiots in our Tory government have any inkling of the implications of their impoverishment of Brexit 🇬🇧?
It's not just that people will be cold and hungry.
They won't have money to spend either.
On anything.
So all private enterprise will fail.
Is that their plan?
👀🧐🤔

This is a catastrophic situation which any sane government would be looking to fix urgently. With nationalised distribution, we could ensure that the provision of a supply was a right, and no standing charge but rather statutory state provision of cables etc to all premises.

RT @chrischirp: Essentially we *could* maybe have avoided lockdown 1 by strong mass testing, contact tracing, isolation, some social restrictions, WFH, masks, border controls like SE Asian countries. But we didn't. So by mid March we were in desperate situation and left with no choice. 5/7

RT @natalieben: In case Liz Truss doesn'r realise it, what she says at a hustings in Norfolk is heard in Paris.

“Emmanuel Macron est-il un ami ou un ennemi ?"

“La question n’est pas encore tranchée”, a répondu Truss. “the jury is still out“.

RT @BylinesEast: People have been confused by the energy price cap. The price we are seeing in the press is based on the percentage increase of an AVERAGE bill. Yours may be lower or higher. This may make what we are facing clearer.
