RT @earthygirl011: Rich people are closing ranks to help protect rich @RishiSunak and his rich tax dodging wife

Ain't no solidarity like millionaire solidarity

The UK establishment relies on it for survival of the status quo

The mystery is why poor people keep voting for it

@MontydeMouse From 2035. Meanwhile it is just as well that France is not at war. And what about the waste it sends to Siberia? Does it pay Russia to take that? Oh great...

@DavidRobjant @MontydeMouse We have a new cable to Norway to exchange spare wind power for hydro electric. And investing a small fraction of what we spend subsidising nuclear & fossil fuels on innovative storage, hydrogen storage and small scale wave and tide installations would deliver the backup capacity.

@JamesCleverly So benefit claimants are not assessed on household income?

(PS "If you live with your partner... You must make a joint claim for your household, even if your partner is not eligible. How much you can get will depend on your partner’s income and savings, as well as your own.")

RT @TheGreenParty: The should respond to the needs people have right now.

Nuclear power is not the solution.

Listen to @AdrianRamsay on .

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@babette_babich @GreenPartyMolly The subsidies for fossil fuels & nuclear are huge by comparison. Renewables are far and away the cheapest, quickest and least damaging installations and sources of supply. And less ugly (but of course the toffs want the power stations/nuclear dumps in someone else's back yard).

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@babette_babich @GreenPartyMolly Far from it. There are perfectly easy ways to develop storage, and to overcome grid limitations. They'd cost far less than a single nuclear power station. Using spare wind power to produce hydrogen is also an option, though inefficient compared with using or storing the power.

RT @AdrianRamsay: The govt's energy strategy doesn't meet the needs of people or climate.

Pursuing new oil & gas projects is reckless for the climate, while the absence of a plan for insulating homes is negligent when so many can't pay their bills

Anyone thinking that nuclear power stations pop up in under ten years? Or make energy that's affordable? Or provide national security in times of war and climate change?
🤣😂
It would be funny if it weren't so utterly irresponsible, costly and ineffective.
(not).

Évidemment, someone this rich enters politics & becomes chancellor of the exchequer only to protect the wealthy, esp. his wife, from the tax others pay, while retaining access to public funds supporting UK business... and to be above the law regarding war sanctions.

It's stupid to pretend there's levelling up happening, when the playing field is being dug into ridges and furrows, so whether you are in the haves or the have nots is a complete lottery.

RT @zarahsultana: The Tories let Shell pay *zero* tax on North Sea oil and gas production last year. Instead the Treasury actually paid them £92,000,000!

In contrast, Shell paid the Norwegian government £3,400,000,000.

We should tax companies like Shell and use that to slash energy bills.
