Re @delgueg @Mervyn_Carter @WeAreCyclingUK Read the research. Cycling reduces risk of cvd, cancer, loads of other things, immune system like a 20 y.o. at age 50. 20 extra years of healthy life. NHS is on its knees because we have a sedentary population, most people don't cycle, and it's understaffed & underfunded.

Re @Brutonsttailor Nothing that they do suggests that they have an accurate concept of zero, or anything approximating to a concept of zero. At best they have a notion of "increasing the proportion of our emissions that happen in places and activities that we don't count in the calculations."

Re @rail_guns @SandraDunn1955 Why is anyone driving a vehicle like that in Wimbledon? We need to ban Chelsea tractors from cities. Make them use the park and ride if they have one of those in the country (not that country roads are wide enough for two of those to pass).

Re @FidelUK @WeAreCyclingUK No that's not true as you must well know. Emissions always go up, because people every new road generates more miles of driving. You're guessing that short cuts would shorten journeys. Try doing the research instead.

It's the result of a hasty attempt to push through appalling reductions in the rights and protections put in over many years. Government too lazy and shy to look at the real details of the disaster they're planning. Thank God for the Lords who still know what integrity is. n.respublicae.eu/POLITICOEurop
