RT @DwhiteForester: @Daisydewdrop18 @trussliz Just another excuse to transfer public monies to private wealth and the corporations.
As a/the Saudi oil minister said a month or so ago, the problem is not extraction but the global lack of refining capacity. It's this that's left us at the mercy of the energy market gamblers

@CmdrSpace I agree that a govt that's dragged its feet and made no provision for training the required workforce or planning the transition would struggle to deliver this. But we've seen an energy crisis looming since before the Ukraine war and the climate crisis for much longer. No excuse.

Ha! Norwich: home to both the Green Party lead on work & social security and the new Tory minister for work & pensions, @NorwichChloe.

How does Norwich North feel about the Tories' record on care for workers and the needy? Confident?

Every house could be insulated to reduce demand. Every business could have its own power plant. We'd be free of global prices and could export what's spare for profit for the country. We could afford heat pumps instead of gas boilers.
And we'd be helping the climate, 😍

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

Imagine if you threw the billions she plans for subsidies into onshore wind, solar and mechanical storage solutions right now. We could be 100% cheap British renewables for electricity by the spring. Every house could have solar panels and free energy. And could sell to the grid.

And she hasn't a clue if she thinks pursuing more fossil fuels will help. Nor nuclear. We have a crisis of high prices now. Tomorrow is too late. And more unaffordable energy is useless. Quick start renewables would be a good answer.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

Meanwhile there appears to be no solution on offer for businesses. Has she forgotten that we still have a crisis if costs for commercial buildings, schools, hospitals and farming etc go through the roof? The ££££££££££ it would cost to fund a cap on those is incalculable. 😰

No incentive for anyone to reduce their consumption or insulate and convert to renewables. Just money to encourage them to waste precious energy that is badly needed across Europe. And who will pay for this profligate waste of public money? The working poor it seems.

She's proposing to pump unlimited billions of borrowed money into the pockets of oil companies & their shareholders.
Many of those shareholders & oil magnates pay no UK tax. But they'll have tax payer subsidies on gas bills for their huge properties or second homes in London. 🙄

@katherineschof8 Oh yes! We can say farewell to the UK's world leading reputation for research and universities staffed by international stars. What with the loss of Horizon Europe and now this troglodyte in charge of Plan B we're all well and truly sold down the river.

Jacob Rees Mogg in charge of energy, of business and industry. Has the world gone mad? Perhaps steam power, fuelled by coal, will be making a come back?

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

RT @David__Osland: Jacob Rees-Mogg uses a Dublin-based investment fund and low-interest loans from a company based in the Cayman Island to avoid UK tax. That tells you all you need to know about his likely agenda as business secretary.

RT @Anothergreen: Looking like Liz Truss is going to fast track the abolition of human rights and replace them with human wrongs.
