@BorisJohnson It won't fix the needs of this generation at all.
In fact it will add £30billion to our bills.

For what? For sod all, when we could have had onshore wind now, for next to nothing.

Also it will take all our drinking water, so we won't be there to want any power. What a legacy!

@TraffordBlue That's fantastic that there is some natural growth managing to survive in all this drought, despite the council not watering it or helping at all. A wee bit of contribution to carbon sequestration.

Note to the deluded:
Energy bills are high because of the cost of gas.

Bills are high because we don't have ENOUGH renewables.

Because the government *failed* to invest in green initiatives. Which are CHEAP and getting cheaper.

Not because it did.
Because it didn't.

@greenbenali When a kettle is cheaper than the cost of boiling it, it's a bit useless isn't it?

RT @castlvillageman: EUcom translator insight.
" Lord Hannan" demanded a translator in BXL on August 25 -2022 at an ad hoc EU/UK parliamentary meeting.
He was told that the UK has not made provision for an interpreter and EU does not fund 3rd parties .
The meeting continued in French.
He left

9. Tory leadership candidates proudly insist that they will block solar farms and onshore wind, which provide the easiest, quickest and cheapest solutions to delivering the energy we're currently failing to reduce demand for...

8. Tory govt approves Sizewell C nuclear power station, to cost £30bn, take (over) 17 years to build, ruin the heritage Suffolk coast, drink all our drinking water & spike our energy bills to unaffordable levels, to deliver unaffordable ⚡ that'll never compete with renewables.

'Solar ☀ farms are being refused at their highest rate for 5 years, the Govt has failed to adopt a retrofit revolution to slash energy bills, & now Tory leadership candidates are vowing to block onshore wind power which could be operational within days.' greenparty.org.uk/news/2022/09

@girlonabrompton Energy costs are rising, and for those who can cut energy use cutting it is good for the planet. But for those of us who are still spending on other luxuries there may be better non essentials we can afford to cut and live better lives as a result.

@ElliotElinor @Sillyshib If there were protections for long term renters, Landlords would evict people before they became "long term" however that was defined. We need decent length leases for everyone, and more social housing to provide permanent homes for those who will never buy a house.

@alegriatwork @KnowUr_Rights Indeed. There are few who could pass the UK citizenship test. Perhaps we should all sit that at age 18, like a driving test! It pretends that British values include all kinds of tolerance, inclusivity, generosity towards minorities. Ha ha! At least it doesn't demand Tory values.

@KnowUr_Rights We need to teach humanities from the perspective of the oppressed and the victims. We need films, TV programmes and songs that reverse the attitudes, to instil compassion not prejudice, empathy not self-righteousness. We need philosophy and Christianity properly understood.

@KnowUr_Rights We need to change hearts & minds. Currently the right wing régime here is pushing white supremacist agendas, stoking culture wars to defend statues of white slave traders, and encouraging the gammon to be proud of their racist views. We should be learning to be horrified by this.

Finally the ' plight has got to the top of the news. We've known it for years. And the BBC also noting that most of the people Priti Patel wanted to send to Rwanda are victims of violence needing our compassion.
Let's restore our commitment to , shall we?

@aandywilson1 They're probably quite used to giving toddlers a chance to sit on the bike and make vroom vroom noises.

Bullying in the workplace of any kind is destructive to society and to families. The anti-woke agenda of the UK govt is stoking the fires of prejudice, exclusion, oppression of minorities. We need a complete transformation to a culture of delighting in diversity & inclusion.

It is unacceptable that in the UK workers are still facing in the workplace. Changing the law is not the solution (we have laws and procedures). What's needed is a culture of empathy and kindness.
We need more literature and humanities in school.
