Many of the people who voted for Macron in the final round didn't want Macron, but they wanted Le Pen even less. This time they could vote for their preferred party or alliance.

Why did #Macron lose his majority? At least partly because he's been stalling on the environment and greenwashing for some time. Young people are sick of it and the EU itself has been complaining. Of course we should back the rail strikes. No one should be offered 2% when inflation is 11%. Yes it's inconvenient. That's what happens if you don't pay fairly. Action will get worse and widespread if you keep punishing workers for your incompetent fiscal policies. @grantshapps
