RT @michaeljswalker: Have you ever heard a government minister say landlords should hold rent below inflation? Or told business owners they should hold down prices and take a hit on profits? Because we’re hearing a lot of them demand that of workers today!

@DavidRobjant The opening tweet was partly motivated by the fact that many young people didn't vote. Why's that? Might they vote if the Greens were speaking to them there as they speak to them here? But the same's true here. If all the young people voted things would look different.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

@DavidRobjant Yes I grant you that's very largely true but there's not just one kind young person in either place. What is true is that the Green Party is a bit different there and young people are quite a lot different there.

@DavidRobjant Yes I thought that. I wonder if they might have held the balance of power if they'd kept away from the alliance?

@ColossusDiplo @MariaWalshEU @MariaSpyraki Yes well that's because of the electoral system for president. It's not a surprise. Many of the people who voted for Macron in the final round didn't want Macron, but they wanted Le Pen even less. This time they could vote for their preferred party or alliance.

@JessinRuislip @june_mummery @NASAMoon @themoonpics_ We'd have done well to have a prominent spokesperson delivering publicity on this during and after the Brexit referendum campaign. I regretted that I failed to volunteer for the fisheries committee in the European Parliament. Maybe we can find someone to speak on it now.

Why did lose his majority? At least partly because he's been stalling on the environment and greenwashing for some time. Young people are sick of it and the EU itself has been complaining. Young people vote Green. It's their world he's messed up. politico.eu/newsletter/brussel

@snb19692 I hope they will invite Johnson to visit the parts of Ukraine where you get stuck in a siege and all the bridges are burned and there's nightly shelling. He hasn't really seen what they are up against, has he?

RT @NeilMaybin: @lucyallan @JustinWelby The Church has not taken a political stance, @lucyallan. It has taken a moral stance.

RT @freddouglass765: The media want you to oppose pay rises for particular sectors by pointing out how poorly some other workers are paid. Really think about what they are doing there. Don’t fall for it. Unite and fight.

@PaulbernalUK I remember the fuss in the Classics world when Black Athena came out and I was part of the King's College Cambridge scene in those days. But I think he'd gone before I went up to Cambridge, so as far as I know I never met him.

Strangely this seems to have come out on the day after the ethics adviser quit and when Johnson failed to go to Wakefield to face the music, but escaped to Ukraine instead. But is this another part of the ethics jigsaw? Or is there still more about to break?
RT @Tim_Burgess: Rumour of a @BorisJohnson super injunction launched to stop this story. So please don’t read it or share it. Thank you.

@SimonPease1 @AlexWhite1812 For the donors and lobbyists, who want government contracts to milk the treasury for public money.

Government doesn't understand how to prevent strikes. Government doesn't understand how to prevent poverty and falling revenues. Government doesn't understand what work means.
Government doesn't understand.

RT @carla_denyer: “The cost-of-living crisis is actually an income crisis.
We fully support @the_TUC’s call for an increase in wages, with public sector increases being funded by the Treasury."

@NissenIn @EastGreenParty Loads of useful additional suggestions shared yesterday in my session on how to help with the at local govt level, and as Green councillors or as activists in areas with little or no Green representation. Thank you and @EastGreenParty.

Of course we should back the rail strikes. No one should be offered 2% when inflation is 11%. Yes it's inconvenient. That's what happens if you don't pay fairly. Action will get worse and widespread if you keep punishing workers for your incompetent fiscal policies. @grantshapps

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

RT @politicabot: @grantshapps *You* are the Transport Secretary. It is *your* job to keep our trains running. Stop trying to force a huge real-terms pay cut on our rail workers in order to deliberately create a crisis. It's all so bloody transparent...
