@DavidRobjant You're inferring from the fact that they find they have to leave the job when they can no longer believe in him? But that's compatible with more than one explanation of why they choose to abandon ship. It might not be *because* they lost faith in him. Did they ever have any?

RT @rossmmccarthy: My letter in the @IrishTimes. In a biodiversity emergency one of the best things we can do is give nature a chance in our gardens. Fake grass turns soil below ground to dust, provides no home to insects and reduces our birds & mammals. We need to take this seriously & ban it

@Sillyshib Yes. You can think of a number of leaders in the world, present and past, about whom one might speak in those terms, if one found oneself needing to defend or explain their actions. Nero, for instance, or ....

RT @Timewalkproject: @catherinerowett Like Bank of England that thinks can cure worldwide inflation by raising interest rates. We are being ruled by morons.

@Sillyshib I thought there were "donations" from the steel magnates that were conditional on the tariffs probably. But yes, I was also imagining something even worse.
On the other hand if you add up Rwanda, and Northern Ireland, and WTO rules and ECHR threats, it's enough.

@BylinesEast Yes, and he thinks an ethics adviser was someone who devised the excuse that gets you off the hook, and makes it seem as if it's all OK. That's why it was such a surprise when he found that the ethics man quit, when all he asked him to do was to find a suitable justification.

RT @EU_chronicles: The and would like to pump more oil, to stop hiding Russian oligarchs' assets. But they won't. US allies Iraq, Jordan & Israel, declined to vote against Russia at the UN Security Council. dw.com/en/why-usa-no-middle-ea @catherinerowett @HNeumannMEP @natalieben

RT @BernieSanders: It shouldn't matter what age you are. No one needs an AR-15 or any other assault weapon designed to massacre people. When we had an assault weapons ban from 1994-2004, mass shootings went down 43%. After it expired, mass shootings tripled. End the filibuster. Ban assault weapons.

@JolyonMaugham @StevePeers @benrileysmith @Samfr "Previously had cross party support" means that in the past there was support for requesting an extension to special tariffs on Chinese Steel (which runs out this month). Not that there is cross party support for continuing the tariffs beyond, illegally, without WTO permission.

@GeorgeMonbiot It's perfectly possible for what was intended to be false, fake and a joke to be actually true in fact, and people found a word for something they already had.

So it wasn't enough to smash up the Northern Ireland protocol that we signed, to break the international rules on refugees and asylum, to threaten to tear up the precious and inviolable ... Johnson now wants to break legislation.

RT @Peston: Lord Geidt resigned as ethics adviser because the prime minister asked him to sanction a deliberate and wilful breach of the ministerial code of conduct. “I can have no part in this”, he said. This is hugely damaging to the reputation of the whole government. See attached

Shall I apply for the post of ethics adviser? I am happy to tell it how it is and keep the media supplied with ample guidance on how to respond.

RT @greenbenali: Every penny spent on deportation flights should be spent on opening safe routes to claim asylum

Imagine how many refugees we could save

Unaccompanied minors in camps. Afghans fleeing the Taliban. Syrians escaping Assad. Ukrainians surviving the war
